Historical background
Nebbiolo is one of the grape varieties that unites the productive destinies of the hills on both the right and left banks of the Tanaro river; Nebbiolo d’Alba is the tangible example of this shared vocation for quality – its area of origin, in fact, extends across the territory of 25 municipalities located on both banks.
Production Area
The grapes intended for the production of wine with the designation of origin “Nebbiolo d’Alba” must be produced in the area of origin comprising the entire territory of the municipalities of: Canale, Castellinaldo, Corneliano d’Alba, Monticello d’Alba, Piobesi d’Alba, Priocca, S. Vittoria d’Alba, Vezza d’Alba, Sinio and Govone and parts of the municipalities of Alba, Bra, Baldissero d’Alba, Castagnito, Diano d’Alba, Grinzane Cavour, Guarene, La Morra, Magliano Alfieri, Monchiero, Monforte d’Alba, Montà, Montaldo Roero, Montelupo Albese, Monteu Roero, Novello, Pocapaglia, Roddi, Roddino, S. Stefano Roero, Sommariva Perno and Verduno, in the province of Cuneo.
Characteristic
Nebbiolo d’Alba is a pure single-variety red wine. It expresses important tones, is capable of withstanding the test of time and of positioning itself positively among the other great offspring of the Nebbiolo grape variety. It expresses itself best after a few years, which depends on the soils in which it was born. The colour is ruby red then garnet; the aroma combines the fruity notes of raspberry, geranium and wild strawberry with the ethereal and spicy notes of cinnamon and vanilla; the flavour, entirely dry, benefits from a notable structure, where alcohol, acidity and extract create sensations of harmony and elegance.
