Historical background

This wine is born from a few hectares of vineyard west of Alba and has its origins in the very wine cellars of Verduno castle, where in the 19th century King Carlo Alberto carried out his oenological experiments on Barolo grapes. Always used in blends with other local varieties, only in recent decades has it been vinified as a single variety. In a short time it has acquired personality and appreciation from consumers, starting with the local market which was the first to sanction its success.

Production Area

The grape production zone includes the municipality of Verduno and part of the municipalities of La Morra and Roddi.

Characteristic

Its fragrant and spicy aroma makes it a wine for attentive connoisseurs and passionate lovers of rarities who are continually seeking new emotions and special pairings. It has a tender ruby colour, shaded with highlights ranging from violet to cerasuolo. The delicate balance between acidity and tannins makes it fresh and graceful on the palate, even of a certain structure; it is pleasant to drink young, when the floral and fruity notes of violet and cherry prevail, and stimulating when it reaches moderate ageing that accentuates the characteristic spicy notes of green and white pepper.
