Waiting for… Grandi Langhe 2020

The fifth edition will take place in Alba on January 27-28 2020.

Grandi Langhe, the bi-annual wine event launched in 2013 for the first time, changes agenda and becomes a yearly occurrence.

The board of the Consorzio Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani, which organizes the tasting with the Consorzio del Roero, made the decision after surveying the participating wineries.

Over 2000 attendees from 30 countries showed up in Alba in January to taste the new vintages of Barolo (2015), Barbaresco (2016) e Roero (2016), poured by over 200 producers.

“The fourth edition was a success and the results persuaded us to set the date for next year. The town of Alba will benefit from Grandi Langhe, especially in the winter season when there are less tourists and initiatives – says Matteo Ascheri, President of the Consorzio di Tutela.

“Additionally, this period allows us to continue working with Nebbiolo Prima [the preview tasting organized by the Albeisa – Unione Produttori Vini Albesi], making it easier for the foreign press to attend both events”.
The last edition – held in January and in a new location in the heart of Alba for the first time – was a challenge and a bet that has undoubtedly been won.

“Grandi Langhe 2020 will be full of surprises” – added the Director of the Consorzio Andrea Ferrero.
“We will work to increase the number of foreign trade visitors and restaurateurs from Piemonte and other parts of Italy. We are also considering an early opening for the press.”

Trade professionals, hospitality managers, sommeliers and journalists enjoyed a two-day immersion in the wine world of the region: Grandi Langhe is now keen to become the go-to exhibition focused on the wines of Langhe and Roero.
